Q: Why do I have to pay for a consultation?
A: Unfortunately, Saskatchewan Health does not pay for any medical costs associated with travel. For this reason, most physicians and providers do not offer travel health services at all. Our clinic specializes in these services to provide you travel health advice and medications at reasonable prices.

Q: Why do I need a travel consultation, can't I just tell you what vaccines or medications I want?
A: Travel vaccinations are a complex mix of destinations, itineraries and traveller medical history. A consultation is required to ensure vaccines and doses are appropriate for your specific situation. It is also an opportunity to educate patients on other risk reduction strategies.

Q: Why don't other travel clinics provide direct billing to insurance plans?
A: The process of becoming direct providers with insurance companies is difficult and time-consuming. We have gone to the trouble of signing provider agreements with major insurance plans to save you the hassle of manually submitting bills, or receiving vaccines and medications without knowing if they're covered by your insurance.

Q: How far in before my trip should I book an appointment? Am I too late to book an appointment?
A: To allow time to complete many vaccine schedules, it is recommended to complete your pre-travel consultation at least 6 weeks before departure. If it's less than 6 weeks before departure, it's still worth having a consultation -- many vaccine schedules can be adjusted to provide you some protection even on short notice.

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?
A: Up-to-date medication records, vaccine history (if you have it), and your itinerary.
